Western Terrace
Neighborhood Association
Western Terrace Neighborhood Association (WTNA) sits on the far Westside off Upper Mount Vernon Road on approximately 80 acres. Our boundaries are Mount Vernon Road, Craig Avenue, North Helfrich Avenue and Clement Street. There are 225 homes in the Terrace which were built in the 1960s by Clem Frank.
Nestled in the back of WTNA is the three-acre Clem Frank Nature Preserve. It was donated in 2001 by Mr. Clement Frank. In 2003, it was placed in a land trust by Westside Improvement Association (WIA) and Four Rivers to protect the WTNA and the natural features of the Westside. It is managed by WTNA.
We have many projects ongoing there. Most recently a new bridge and signs were installed by WIA. Also, the trails were mulched and widened, and a new tree was planted. It is a beautiful place for a quiet walk. We even have a sitting bench in memory of Sam Wentzel for his long-time service. He was a founding member of WTNA and the force behind acquiring the nature preserve.
In the 1990s the neighborhood started to experience a renaissance when the WTNA was formed to do necessary repairs and beautification projects. Signs were installed at the entrances and we started having yearly picnics.
Currently WTNA hosts many yearly events including Halloween in the Terrace; a Christmas party with Santa and Mrs. Claus; Best Decorated Yard contests; summer garden walks; a neighborhood yard sale; and our famous wiener roast/picnic.
WTNA enjoys partnering with National Night Out and The Franklin Street Bazaar for Neighborhood Day. We also do neighborhood cleanups for Keep Evansville Beautiful. We meet quarterly and distribute a quarterly newsletter.
Western Terrace really is a great place to live and raise a family.
