United Neighborhoods of Evansville (UNOE) will hold its 22nd Annual Sparkplug Recognition Banquet on Thursday, October 26 in the Walnut Rooms of the Tropicana Executive Conference Center. Doors open at 5:30pm. Dinner is served at 6:15pm, followed by the program.
The theme for this year is “Reinventing Neighborhoods” and will include an unveiling of UNOE’s new logo. The winner of the theme-based photo contest will be announced as well.
Representatives from over 45 different neighborhood associations, the City of Evansville, Evansville Police Department, and other various organizations will be attending the event to celebrate the accomplishments of the neighborhoods and honor Sparkplug winners.
A Sparkplug is an individual, group, business or organization that has gone above and beyond to support and assist their neighbors and their neighborhood. Each participating Neighborhood Association selects a resident to honor through a Sparkplug Award.
The keynote speaker for the evening will be Nancy Thompson, AICP, Urban Planning Consultant and former Executive Director of the St. Louis Association of Community Organizations. Nancy is a certified community planner. She currently maintains a consulting practice specializing in neighborhood plans, community development work, and nonprofit strategic planning. She is a co-contributor to the for Useful Community Development website, where the goal is to discuss common community and neighborhood issues with uncommon candor, a point of view, and a sense of humor.
Abraham Brown will share a brief presentation highlighting the Evansville’s “e is for everyone” brand campaign.
