YMCA Logo, for youth development, for healthy living, for social responsibility. Family preparing dinner.

The YMCA in collaboration with Purdue University Extension and Cooking Matters will be hosting a free 6-week program for caregivers with children under 5 years old. The class will feature budget and family friendly recipes that are easy and delicious.

Course Description

Course participants will build confidence in their new skills through active class participation, enabling positive behavior changes in daily life. Classmates also help one another by sharing feedback on each other’s progress. Participants receive ingredients weekly to practice making the class recipes at home. By using what they learn in class at home, Cooking Matters MA course graduates maximize their food resources, make healthier choices for their families, and prepare balanced, delicious meals. Because proper nutrition is critical for children’s health, development, and ability to learn, acquiring these skills can return important long-term benefits for a family’s physical and economic well-being.

Evansville Metropolitan Planning Organization Survey

The last day to take the survey is February 28th, the survey is available in both English and Spanish. Printable versions in English and Spanish.

The Evansville MPO is looking for people to take a survey about the transportation needs of seniors, individuals with disabilities, youth, and limited income individuals in our region for the Coordinated Plan update.

Approximately every 5 years, the Evansville MPO must update the Coordinated Public Transit – Human Services Transportation Plan for the Evansville-Henderson urbanized area for the region to remain eligible for Section 5310 transit funding. The Coordinated Plan includes information about the public transportation providers, including METS and HART, and numerous non-profit agencies that provide transportation for seniors, individuals with disabilities, youth, and limited income individuals in our region.

The survey is used to gather information from individuals in need of transportation options, the results of which will help in the development of goals and objectives for the Coordinated Plan and identify opportunities for improvement from all transportation providers in the area. The survey is available in both English and Spanish.

Reminder: Scheduling Heavy Trash Pickup Online

Soon it will be Spring cleaning time and we wanted to remind residents you can schedule heavy trash pickups online.

Back in August the Evansville Water & Sewer Utility opened up the option of scheduling Heavy Trash Pickups online instead of calling to prevent long wait times. You can schedule a heavy trash pickup at ewsu.com/forms/heavy-trash/

You can also view our previous post on how to scheduling pickup online at unoevansville.org/schedule-heavy-trash-pickup-online/
